Rank well on the search engines

You want to rank well on the search engines, but you need to ask yourself: why should you rank well? It’s more obvious why you want to rank well:

  • you want to spread the word on something that is important to you
  • you want more visitors
  • you want to change the world
  • or maybe you just want to sell something, facing strong online competition.

This is a hot topic on the internet - how rank well on the Google, Yahoo and MSN. This is accomplished in much easier way with blogging than not. A clue to why this works like a charm with blogs? It attracts blog directories and search engines through it’s built-in notification features. Also because blog owners continually add fresh, new content to their blogs.

One (more) suggestion: to make sure search engines crawl content quickly and completely, it might be best to change something about .htaccess, robots.txt or wordpress settings to allow full crawling of the site by robots/spiders like Google and Yahoo.

I realized that there are problems with this when GoogleBot could not crawl http://dubesor.blogetery.com/feed (as reported by my Google Sitemaps account).

I’ve disallowed /feed robots.txt from crawling to avoid duplicate content penalty.
