Welcome to Zinmag Remedy Magazine wordpress theme setup guide.

Zinmag Remedy is the latest version of the magazine theme series from jinsona designs. My two previous releases ( Redux and Futura ) have been very successful and being used by so many wordpress users on the blogosphere.

What’s new on remedy?
Zinmag remedy is a special edition among zinmag series themes. This is the first among this to use custom theme options to adjust the theme settings from your control panel. This saves you from editing template files and making any errors in the process.

The Remedy version uses a dark layout which makes it an ideal choice to make a super high quality game blog or movie review blog or any site of related niche.

The Remedy version is packed with Adsense and custom banner advertisement options to monetize your blog.

In the following setup guide we will see how to optimize the Remedy theme for your blog. This guide is designed to help even the one with least experience on wordpress. If you are a wordpress user with moderate experience on themes you would be able to figure out the settings from the theme options page itself. You can use the guide as reference for troubleshooting.

1. Enable the plugins
Login to your admin panel and get to the plugins section and activate the popularity contest plugin and the wp cumulus plugin.

Now move to Settings and under Wp cumulus options adjust the settings as seen in the image.

2. Enable the Theme.
Go to the Design section of your admin panel and activate the Remedy theme.

3. Theme options.
In the Design section of your admin panel, you will find the Zinmag Remedy Options tab. Under that you will find the options page which controls the settings of your theme. We will go by them one by one. See image:

a. Sliding Panel Settings
The sliding panel area is located on the theme below the menu bar. You can choose the category to display on sliding panels and the number of panels to display.

b. Featured Post settings
You can choose the category to display under the featured post area.

c. Highlight Reel Settings
You can select the category to display under the highlight reel section. You can also choose the number of posts to be displayed as well.

d. Mini-post Settings
This is the section which displays 6 mini-posts from 6 different categories. You can select the categories of each mini-post from the theme options page.

e. Featured Video Setting
You can select the category to be displayed under the featured video. This will display the most recent post from that category with the video embedded.

f. Feed-burner setting
The theme has a feed-burner email subscriber on the sidebar. To customize this, enter your feed-burner id in the theme options.

g. Banner Ad settings
You can setup four 125×125 banner for your sidebar from here. Enter the url of the image and the destination url on the theme options.


4. Using thumbnails via custom fields.
You may have already noticed that several components of the remedy theme are using thumbnails images of different sizes attached to posts. It is used on the sliding panels, mini-posts, and on the highlight reel. This is executed via custom fields.
When you make a post you can create a custom field with the image you want to associate with that post. How it is done is explained below.

1. Go to Admin panel > Write post
2. Give post title, and write down the content.
3. Select Add media > Add an image > Upload your choice of image (size 200px X 120 px )
4. Scroll down to the Custom field area and set the key name as homethumb (case sensitive) and enter the full path to the image you uploaded in the value field.
5. Make sure you enter the full path in the value field, e.g. /files/2009/12/example.jpg.
6. Then add the custom field to the post.
